MEET MATT
Matthew Jared Wedemeyer was born to Doug and Judy Wedemeyer on
April 16, 1985 in Creston, Iowa. He joined a brother Bret
Michael who is two years older. He grew up on the family farm
south of Casey; where he gained a great appreciation for the
land they cared for, and the community that surrounded them.
Matt attended Adair-Casey Community School until he graduated in
2003. While there he studied accounting as well as general
curriculum, and was active in Student Council, SOFA, and FFA.
Through these organizations Matt attended leadership conferences
across the nation.
After high school Matt attended Des Moines Area Community
College in Ankeny to pursue a degree in Liberal Arts. While
there he also worked several jobs including customer service for
a major retailer, and for an area farmer. He later transferred
to Southwestern Community College in Creston and received a
degree in Business Administration.
In 2004 Matt retuned to Adair County to participate in his
family’s farm operation, making him a Sixth Generation Iowa
farmer. That same year Matt began selling real estate for
Wedemeyer Auction and Realty where he specializes in Residential
and Agricultural properties. In 2006 he was elected to serve as
Walnut Township’s Clerk. In this capacity he oversees the
receipts and disbursements of tax dollars to maintain Walnut
Township’s infrastructure.
